StackFreeks is a technical blog focused on one thing: helping developers, startup founders, and indie hackers make better decisions about their infrastructure and tooling.
The hosting and VPS space is full of marketing copy dressed up as reviews. Pricing tables that leave out key limits. “Comparison” posts that mysteriously crown whoever pays the highest affiliate commission. StackFreeks exists to be the opposite of that.
Who Runs This Site
StackFreeks is written and maintained by Vici, a software developer who runs side projects on VPS infrastructure. The deploy guides on this site come out of that work — setting up, breaking, and rebuilding the same stacks these articles cover. Writing about self-hosting, budget cloud hosting, and the tools that make solo development sustainable started as a way of keeping notes, and turned out to be useful to other people too.
What We Cover
- VPS & Cloud Hosting — Vultr, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Linode, and others. Real benchmarks, not recycled spec sheets.
- Shared & Managed Hosting — For WordPress sites, portfolios, and small apps where a VPS is overkill.
- AI Coding Tools — Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and whatever launches next month, compared on real-world developer feedback and benchmarks.
- Tech Stack Decisions — When to use what. Framework comparisons, deployment options, cost breakdowns for different scales.
- Developer Tools — CI/CD, monitoring, databases, and the unglamorous infrastructure that keeps things running.
How We Review
We build every review and comparison from primary sources: official pricing and documentation, independent benchmark data, and real user reports from communities like Reddit and G2 — not paraphrased vendor marketing copy.
When sources disagree or a product has a genuine limitation or a misleading price structure, we say so directly. A review that only shows the good parts isn’t a review.
